We are seeking a Locum Consultant for General/Acute Medicine in the Mater Hospital for a period of 3 months to start immediately.

This will involve working alongside a Consultant in Care of the Elderly covering a mixed ward of both Care of the Elderly patients and general medical patients to:

Perform twice daily senior decision making ward rounds

Ensure patients have a discharge focussed treatment plan within 24hrs of admission including an expected discharge date

Work proactively with patient flow teams to ensure appropriate bed utilisation

Actively engage in both simple and complex discharges

Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients and their families

Work effectively with consultant colleagues and supervise resident doctors on the team
