Due to continued successful growth, we have an excellent permanent opportunity to join our Fortem team at Orbit Housing as a Carpenter Multi Skilled Trade in the repairs and maintenance team.
Role Overview
The Carpenter Multi Trade will be responsible for various property maintenance and repairs to social housing properties, utilizing core carpentry skills and basic plumbing. The role covers a patch of social housing in Leamington Spa and the surrounding area, so travel is essential.
Core hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. A work van and fuel card are provided!
You will ensure all work is completed to a high standard with minimal supervision, taking ownership of tasks with the aim of \’First time Fix\’. The role involves operating within company health and safety guidelines, adhering to budget and time constraints, and maintaining courteous and professional interactions with tenants.
The Customer
Fortem’s contract with Orbit Housing covers over 17,000 properties across Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, Coventry, Nuneaton, Northampton, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. We manage multiple workstreams, including Repairs & Maintenance, Voids, Capital Works, and Re-Roofing. Duties and Responsibilities
- Completing carpentry and basic plumbing repairs in social housing properties efficiently and within specified turnaround times.
- Advising supervisors when additional trades are required.
- Collaborating with other operatives to complete projects.
- Recording and submitting accurate data using relevant business systems and electronic devices.
- Providing excellent customer service to clients and tenants.
- Planning and purchasing materials needed for repairs.
- Complying with safeguarding policies and health & safety standards.
- Following occupational road risk policies and procedures.
- Using a PDA smartphone to update colleagues on work progress and completion.
Requirements
Essential:
- NVQ/City & Guilds qualifications or equivalent in Carpentry, or qualified by experience.
- Full UK driving license with no more than 5 points.
- No driving bans in the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass a basic DBS check.
Desirable: Social housing experience.
