A brand new SEMH provision in Essex – is seeking a committed and experienced Independence and Inclusion Coach to join its founding team from September 2025.
This is a full-time, permanent term-time only position. You\’ll be part of a specialist team delivering tailored pastoral and inclusion support for up to 30 pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school\’s approach is built around empowerment, trust, and pathways to success – both in and beyond education.
As an Independence and Inclusion Coach, you will play a vital role in helping students develop confidence, self-management, and readiness for life beyond school.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and self-belief
- Support pupils\’ development of independence and self-regulation
- Work alongside teaching staff to embed SEMH-informed strategies
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with students
- Provide pastoral and behavioural support across the day
- Contribute to pupils\’ progression toward post-16 education, training or employment
- Promote real-world learning experiences and pupil voice
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven pastoral leadership or key worker background desirable
- Empathetic, trauma-informed and consistent approach
- Experience supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A strong team player with a belief in inclusive, empowering education
- Enhanced DBS required (completed prior to start)
