We seek an enthusiastic and experienced individual to support the Echo Service at Countess of Chester Hospital. The role involves routine, complex, and specialized procedures, including accurate reporting to support clinical decisions.
The successful candidate will work within a team, reporting to the clinical lead, providing supervision, training, and support to junior staff. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the Cardiology service at the hospital.
Main duties of the job
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic investigations within echocardiography, independently performing and reporting echocardiograms to BSE standards.
- Support specialist echocardiography services, including transoesophageal, bubble, contrast, and stress echocardiography.
- Deliver a physiologist-led diagnostic service for GP referrals, providing autonomous reports with patient care recommendations unless a cardiology opinion is needed.
- Assist in training and developing students, registrars, and medical staff within echocardiography.
- Triaging, prioritizing workload, and escalating capacity issues to the clinical lead.
- Maintain professional standards, contribute to MDT meetings, and participate in departmental audits supporting BSE quality frameworks.
- Support patients during tests, explaining procedures and assisting less mobile or frail patients to ensure effective testing.
