Job Overview

We are looking for a hard‑working individual to join the Patient Access & Booking Centre at Glan Clwyd and Abergele Hospital on a permanent basis. The role is based in a busy call‑centre environment and the successful applicant will be part of a team of experienced staff responsible for managing a waiting list and booking patients. Excellent communication skills, ability to multi‑task and stay calm under pressure are essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Responsibilities

  • Provide ā€œfirst point of accessā€ administration for all referrals in the Booking Centre.
  • Act as first point of contact for all enquiries and referrals into the Trust.
  • Use local patient administration systems to manage all referrals, waiting lists and appointments for all patients in a timely manner.
  • Work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, supporting other team members to deliver the Access targets and a patient‑focused booking service.
  • Use own initiative in sometimes complex situations to ensure that patients are booked in line with Local and National Access Targets.
  • Support the delivery of a professional, efficient and effective centralised booking service for a variety of outpatient clinics.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Essential: GCSE, NVQ3 or equivalent, IT qualification.
  • Desirable: IT or ECDL, Mandatory Training.

Experience

  • Essential: Hospital/GP practice, call‑centre experience, dealing with general public, working as part of a team.
  • Desirable: Working with consultant/clinical staff, waiting list management.

Skills

  • Essential: interpersonal skills, ability to prioritise own workload, ability to work under pressure.
  • Desirable: Microsoft Office, WPAS.

Knowledge

  • Essential: Knowledge of the Data Protection Act.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of WPAS.
