Health & Safety Advisor Scientific and Production Environment Location: Yarnton & Abingdon (regular travel between sites required) Employment Type: Full-time, onsite Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 An established and forward-thinking organisation is seeking a motivated Health & Safety Advisor to join its growing team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a positive safety culture across diverse environments including offices, laboratories, and machine workshops. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with the existing H&S team to ensure compliance with UK legislation and implement measures to maintain a safe working environment. This is a varied position involving administrative duties, on-site engagement, technical assessments, and strategic input. You will be liaising with contractors, consultants, and internal staff at all levels, while also supervising and mentoring other team members involved in H&S activities. Key Responsibilities as a Health & Safety Advisor: Maintain and promote high Health & Safety standards in a fast-changing business environment. Encourage a positive H&S culture across all areas of the organisation. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to assess processes and ensure effective safety measures. Review risk assessments, safety procedures, records, signage, and policies. Coordinate internal and external audits to monitor compliance. Lead accident and near-miss investigations, implementing corrective actions. Identify and drive continuous improvement within safety management processes. Prepare reports for senior leadership and auditors. Provide supervision and guidance to H&S team members and staff involved in safety-related activities. Essential Criteria as a Health & Safety Advisor : NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent qualification. Experience in Health & Safety within a production setting. Strong ability to manage multiple priorities and influence stakeholders at all levels. Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence (car owner-driver essential). Desirable Criteria as a Health & Safety Advisor : Knowledge of specialised regulations including COSHH, DSEAR, ATEX, and REACH. Experience creating risk assessments for industrial machinery and hazardous substances. Understanding of regulations relating to water safety, pressurised systems, and extract ventilation.
