Job Description:

Are you interested in embedding Youth Social Action (YSA) within your community while studying towards a Level 3 Apprenticeship? If so, this is the role for you!

Bradford and Shipley College are collaborating with the Pears Foundation and AoC to appoint a highly motivated Youth Social Action apprentice.

The purpose of this role is to raise awareness of Youth Social Action (YSA) and increase high-quality social action opportunities for students within both Bradford College and Shipley College.

This important role will use students\’ voices and actions to bring practical and positive change to others and the environment. You will help develop students’ character, confidence, and skills through social action, supporting future employment.

Your week will be split: 2 days at Bradford College, 2 days at Shipley College, and 1 day studying towards your Level 3 Support Worker Apprenticeship.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support the team in raising awareness of the benefits of youth social action and embedding it into the college culture.
  • Learn to coordinate and manage youth social action activities within the colleges, collaborating with local and national community organisations and charities for wide participation, impact, and sustainability.
  • Develop understanding of empowering students to take action and address local issues, creating opportunities for meaningful work experience around social action.
  • Consult with students to understand their motivations, enabling engagement and retention in YSA activities, including diverse and inclusive participation.
  • Share best practices and resources across colleges and with the Youth Social Action Apprentices network.
  • Participate in a network of Youth Social Action Apprentices, engaging in learning and development opportunities.
  • Link to other national youth social action programmes where possible.
  • Engage with local community groups and charities to identify support opportunities and understand local needs.
  • Shadow senior team members to learn engagement with local employers for support and sustainability.
  • Complete administrative duties to support project management, monitoring, and evaluation to measure impact and capture insights.
