Senior Technician
This is for our Client, who is an industry-leading company with over 35 years of experience in creating physical special effects for Film, Television, Commercials, Live Events, and Exhibitions. Their wide range of services includes pyrotechnics, atmospherics, animatronics, models & miniatures, props, prosthetics, and special costumes.
Location: London Workshop (Perivale)
Salary Range: £34,000 – £38,000 per annum
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Senior Technician to join our team. The role involves assisting in the preparation, construction, and execution of models and effects as per technical specifications. Responsibilities include building animatronics, mechanical rigs, models, miniatures, and props.
Responsibilities:
- Experience in precision engineering and model making.
- Knowledge of workshop processes, including machining, welding, molding, and vacuum forming.
- Familiarity with materials such as plastics, metals, and timber.
- Experience using SFX equipment (e.g., smoke machines, steam generators, water FX, gas/flame equipment, air mortars).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of electro-mechanical equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, wiring circuits, and water systems.
- Awareness of safety legislation relevant to mechanical, electrical, or other projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Background in the film, television, or live events industry.
- Degree or certification in Special Effects, Engineering, or Design.
- Knowledge of lighting and camera equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD.
