We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mobile EV Technician. The successful candidate will deliver support, diagnostics, and servicing to customers’ vehicles, as well as remote assistance to other technicians within the group. This is a mobile role based in Northamptonshire, with the vehicle stored overnight at either Northampton or Kettering.
While field-based, you will also work as part of the Autocentres service team from time to time to provide support to service and repair teams, ensuring customer satisfaction and multifunctional support.

EV Technician Responsibilities
- To service all makes and models of EVs to a high standard efficiently.
- Identify customer service and repair needs, confidently explaining pricing and processes when appropriate.
- Carry out accurate diagnostics, fault finding, and technical support using Autel and other diagnostic tools.
- Provide remote technical assistance to other technicians, using written and verbal communication.
- Quality check all work undertaken and seek advice/support when required.
- Undertake necessary fast-fit repairs as directed or required.
- Communicate regularly with feedback to the Mobile EV Master Technician Manager to ensure deadlines are met and customers are satisfied.
- Work in a safe and clean environment and be responsible for H&S.
- Collaborate with field teams to support in complaint resolution, including working on Non-EV tasks as dictated by business needs.
General
- Comfortable working in outdoor conditions, at customer or centre locations, and across various weather conditions.
- Operate independently and work remotely or alone with confidence and self-sufficiency.
- Be flexible to travel outside normal hours and across the UK network, depending on business needs.
- Undertake other reasonable tasks as requested by management.
- Comfortable attending trade shows to promote the business including our garage services and mobile offerings to both retail and business customers.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (Light Vehicle or equivalent).
- Strong diagnostic experience, ideally with hands-on experience using Autel diagnostic equipment.
- A full UK Driving Licence (clean or with minimal endorsements).
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal – for effective remote and in-person support.
- Ability to work independently and self-motivated, with strong organisational and time management skills.
- Flexible and willing to travel and work longer days when required.
- Must live within a commutable distance to Northampton or Kettering, where the mobile van must be stored overnight.
- A strong level of numeracy and sales experience is essential to the role, including pricing work accurately and upselling additional services.
Desirable
- Current EV-specific qualifications (e.g. IMI Level 2/3 in EV & Hybrid Systems).
- Willingness to attend TESLA EV training as part of ongoing development.
