A Freight Forwarder based at the London Gateway in Stanford Le Hope is looking to recruit an experienced Import Customs Operator to join their customs department. The role is Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm The successful candidate would be responsible for submission of import customs entries on behalf of internal Road Freight branches and outside customer base in a timely and compliant manner. Main tasks and responsibilities would include; * Submit import declarations via ASM Sequoia to a variety of CPC’s. * Submit Safety and Security declarations to HMRC via ASM Sequoia * Liaise with relevant HMRC departments to resolve any holds or queries. * Support and contribute to departments monthly P&L report. * Post entry checks and if necessary, reclaims and amendments to appropriate HMRC departments. * Abide by the Compliance Policies and Procedures of the Company. Essential Skills / Experience required : * Recent experience of working in a customs brokerage environment. Inclusive of entry submission to CDS via ASM Sequoia or a similar software provider. * Knowledge of the HMRC Tariff for a diverse range of product types. * Understanding of various customs procedures * Strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills (written and verbal) * Knowledge of port community systems such as CNS/Destin8 * Intermediate computer literacy and knowledge of software, such as Word, Excel. * A keen eye for detail
