Our client, a successful and growing food distribution company, is seeking a dedicated Payroll Manager to oversee payroll for around 1,000 employees across their group business. About the Role: As Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of the full payroll process from start to finish, ensuring all employees are paid accurately and on time. You will manage payroll compliance, statutory reporting, and stay up to date with the latest payroll legislation. Key Responsibilities: Manage the end-to-end payroll process for approx. 1,000 employees. Ensure payroll is processed accurately and in line with current legislation and company policies. Maintain and update payroll records and reports. Liaise with HMRC and other external bodies where required. Provide advice and support to managers and employees on payroll queries. Prepare payroll reports for senior management. Utilise Excel to manage data and produce reports efficiently. About You: ✅ Proven experience managing large payrolls within a multi-site or group business. ✅ Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory requirements. ✅ Advanced Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis). ✅ High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. ✅ Ability to work independently and manage deadlines. ✅ Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach. Working Pattern: 21 hours per week, with flexibility on how these hours are worked. Hybrid working: office attendance only required during payroll processing week.
