Principal Case Officer | 8524 | Permanent Contract | 1 x Full Time Post (37 hours per week) & 1 x Part Time Post (18.5 hours per week) | £42,463 to £46,732 per annum (full time equivalent) | Grade K | Countywide | Pay Award Pending
Norfolk Trading Standards requires someone with experience in criminal law or regulatory enforcement to review a range of investigation reports for evidential weight and evaluation of the most appropriate action. This is a specialist role, working alongside Trading Standards Officers across a range of regulatory offences including fraud, consumer protection, product safety, animal welfare, illegal tobacco, underage sales and food standards.
You will draft court papers and appear in the Magistrates\’ Court on behalf of the service and provide high quality, professional and up to date legal advice, acting as lead adviser for all aspects of the legal function. Where required you will instruct Counsel, brief experts and attend case conferences.

To be considered, youll need to have excellent communication, presentation and organisational skills, and you will have achieved or are working towards completion of the full (C)ILEX qualification, or you may already hold other qualification(s) providing for equivalent rights of audience.
You will also have a thorough understanding of all aspects of criminal procedure, including not guilty and conduct of trials. Some experience of civil legal process and court procedures would be an advantage.
