Job Description

To be responsible for completing a range of enhancement projects across the external communal areas of the council’s housing stock. The post holder will need to a provide a professional standard at a highly productive level, acting with minimum supervision.

To undertake a range of works demonstrating proficient level skills and experience including carpentry (boxed planters), painting, pressure washing, window cleaning, guttering cleaning and basic grounds maintenance tasks.

The post holder will act as first point of contact for the residents in the Neighbourhood and must ensure they deliver a customer focused service in line with best value.

The post holder will be required to work as part of a team or individually providing services to our customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Operational
  • Work in a range of housing locations throughout the borough completing specified works to a high standard of excellence (in terms of completion of jobs and with customers/clients).
  • To deliver a consistent standard of excellence.
  • To operate all post and service related IT hard and software. Including mobile technology to aid modern ways of working and gathering and recording data for information systems and inventories
  • To plan, identify and allocate required materials and resources.
  • This is a physically demanding role. The role holder will be expected to climb ladders, work at heights and in confined spaces, lift and move heavy objects, tools and materials safely and undertake other tasks as necessary for the completion of the work with a high regard to health and safety to themselves and others.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • To promote and deliver a customer centred service that is responsive to internal and external customer needs, and places resident and key stakeholder’s involvement at the heart of the service.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues, contractors & external organisations to deliver enhancement initiatives.
  • Health & Safety:
  • To ensure compliance to Health and Safety rules and regulations in all work activities, including: wearing and utilising PPE (Protective Personal Equipment), maintaining the PPE, adhering to method statements and risk assessments, and participating in the development and maintenance of Safe Systems of Work
  • To comply with customer care guidelines and initiatives and carry out all duties in accordance with the council’s approach to public sector equality duties. To be responsive to priorities based on resident need and vulnerability and corporate policy.
  • To participate in a CPD programme, including statutory training, to maintain and improve individual skills, expertise and knowledge.’
