The pay range for this role will be £52,413 – £60,357 (pro rata for part time colleagues).

Children’s Social Care Performance Manager

We are looking for a strategic, collaborative leader to head our Children’s Social Care Performance & Intelligence function—delivering high‑quality analysis, insight and intelligence that drive better decision‑making and service delivery.

The role

As Children’s Social Care Performance Manager, you will provide the strategic lead for performance and management information across Children’s Social Care and related service units, working closely with internal teams and multi‑agency partners.

  • Lead, manage, and develop a specialist team—setting high standards, providing coaching, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Design, implement and maintain comprehensive performance frameworks for Children’s Social Care and multi‑agency boards, including business cycles, reporting, scorecards; provide timely, accurate, and accessible management information and high‑level strategic analysis for senior leaders (Strategic Director, Members, and Service Directors).
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for performance data and analysis (including Ofsted inspections and statutory returns), safeguarding the integrity, security, and quality of data/MI systems.
  • Support developing strategic plans, overseeing performance processes, and delivering accurate analysis to support senior leadership and multi‑agency partnerships.
  • Represent the service and BCP Council in multi‑agency forums and partnerships, promoting best practice and resolving service challenges.
  • Maintain policy and technical expertise and knowledge in relation to changes in national and regional policy, legislative change, and technical advancements to adapt processes and advise senior managers and partners.

About You

You are an experienced performance leader with:

  • Degree level with a qualification relevant to statistics and data analysis.
  • Management Qualification (at level 3 or above) or equivalent experience, a track record of leading teams, embedding quality standards, and delivering measurable service improvements.
  • Proven expertise in designing performance frameworks, leading statutory data returns, and preparing services for inspection/assurance.
  • Experience of producing strategic plans, including preparing and presenting complex data.
  • Strong analytical skills. Understanding one or more programming languages for data analysis (such as T‑SQL, Microsoft Access SQL, Python, R, etc.) would be an advantage.
  • Understanding and experience of using Power‑BI for insight reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing skills, and experience operating across multi‑agency environments.
