Doncaster Rovers Academy are looking to recruit three coach development analysts on an internship basis for the season. The Coach Development Analysts will be working closely with the Assistant Head of Academy & Head of Coach Development and Academy Coach Developer to enhance the development of both players and coaches at Doncaster Rovers Academy. By utilising performance analysis, the individual will help guide coaching in aspects around practice design, coaching behaviours as well as supporting reflective practice, and ultimately drive improvement in session delivery.

The role is focused on holistic coach development and ensuring that all coaching practices align with the overall academy philosophy. A strong emphasis will be placed on data-driven development, where performance analysis serves as the backbone of improving coaching effectiveness. This job is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about developing young talent through a structured, reflective, and data-supported coaching model.

Key Responsibilities

Analysis of Coaching Practices

  • To use se data and performance analysis to assess the effectiveness of coaching practices.
  • Analyse training sessions and match performances to identify areas where coaches can improve their methods and interactions with players.
  • Work closely with coaches, offering constructive feedback on coaching styles, communication, and tactical understanding.

Reflective Practise

  • Build reflective practices into pre- and post-session activities.
  • Help coaches critically assess their own performances, providing them with structured frameworks for reflection and development via self-assessment tools, feedback loops, or video analysis to encourage coaches to think about their practices from different perspectives.

Deliver Coaching Development Sessions

  • Conduct or support coaching sessions with U7 – U18 groups via focusing on building age appropriate technical and tactical understanding, and nurturing the coaches’ own development.

Collaborating with the MDT

  • Integrate coaching development with insights from the broader MDT (e.g., sports science, psychology, performance analysis, etc.) and encourage a holistic approach to player development and ensure that the coaching methods align with the academy’s overall player development philosophy.

Coaching Philosophy Development

  • Work as part of the team to help define, develop, monitor and promote Doncaster Rovers Academy’s coaching philosophy through ensuring consistency in training delivery, fostering a specific playing style, and aligning the coaches with the academy’s vision and values.

Professional Development

  • Continuously upskill in coaching, analysis, and reflective practices via staying updated on the latest coaching trends, analysis techniques, and methodologies to enhance coach development.

About The Candidate

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in coaching, preferably within an academy setting from pre academy upwards
  • Currently undertaking a BSc or MSc in a sport coaching degree (or similar degree)
  • Ability to analyse training and match footage, statistical data, and coach performance.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively support and provide feedback to coaches.
  • Experience or training in helping others develop reflective practices.
  • FA UEFA C
  • FA Safeguarding
  • FA EFAIF with an understanding of player development at various age groups (U7-U18).
  • Familiarity and experience with performance analysis software (e.g., Hudl, SportsCode) could be beneficial.
