Information about the role
This role will be based in the Capabilities Team at NCBRNC to support, strengthen and assure the multi-agency general and specialist response to CBRN Terrorism.
You will be required to supervise and support a small multi-agency team with responsibility for managing the National Strategic Reserve of CBRN PPE and ancillary equipment. In collaboration with the other Sergeant you will engage with partners across blue light organisations, military, science and industry to future proof and ensure the current capability is fit for purpose against the existing and potential future threat picture.
Responsibilities
- Work as an integral part of the capabilities team to strengthen and develop the UK Emergency Service’s capability to respond to CBRN terrorism and contribute to the overall vision and mission of the NCBRNC.
- Effectively manage the National Strategic Reserve, responding to demand from Policing regions and partners, ensuring sufficient equipment is available for immediate deployment in response to incidents and BAU churn including preparing operational / training kits for issue.
- Continue to develop the National Strategic Reserve asset tracking system, managing warehousing and logistical requirements working with external IT partners.
- Provide supervisory support to ongoing and future multi-agency PPE and detection equipment projects.
- Work with suppliers to ensure replacements for expired defensive detection, identification and monitoring equipment are ordered, distributed and asset tracked without a break in operational response capability.
- Generate quotations and manage billing for missing or damaged equipment.
- Be an effective conduit for information sharing from equipment suppliers to the national CBRN SPOC network.
- Become part of the on-call cadre of Duty Officers providing 24/7 support to emergency services responding to CBRN related incidents. The on call rota is currently one week in every seven, and this would be the minimum expectation.
