Studio on the Common is a woman owned, highly respected and established Art Studio in the heart of downtown Winchester. We are looking looking for a dynamic, energeticLead Art Teacherto join our collaborative team!
About Us:
Studio on the Common is a vibrant community art studio in the heart of Winchester, offering after-school and summer art programs for kids ages 3–18, as well as adult classes. Our mission is simple: to make art joyful, accessible, and social! We work with a variety of materials—painting, drawing, pottery, fiber arts, sculpture—and encourage experimentation and self-expression in every class.
We\’re a small, close-knit team that loves what we do, and we\’re looking for someone who shares our passion for inspiring young artists and bringing creativity to the community.
What You’ll Do as Lead Art Teacher
- Plan and teach fun, engaging art classes for elementary-aged students (ages 5–12) during after-school programs and summer camps
- Help young artists build confidence and friendships through creativity
- Work closely with our Director of Art Education to design hands-on, age-appropriate projects using a wide variety of art media
- Lead daily classes (up to 20 students) with the support of co-teachers and counselors
- Create a warm, inclusive, and exciting classroom where every child feels welcome
- Manage classroom behavior with positivity and structure
- Maintain a clean, colorful, and inspiring studio space
- Prep and organize materials, order supplies, and make sure teachers and students have everything they need to thrive
- Supervise and support studio staff to ensure smooth and safe operations
- Be a leader, role model, and source of encouragement to students and colleagues alike!
Who You Are:
- A creative, enthusiastic art educator with2+ years of experience teaching kids (especially elementary-aged!)
- Passionate about art and making it accessible and fun for children
- Confident in leading a classroom and managing student behavior with warmth and positivity
- Organized, proactive, and comfortable juggling lesson planning, classroom prep, and team coordination
- Skilled in a wide range of 2D and 3D art media: painting, drawing, sculpture, fiber arts, and more
- Great at communicating with students, families, and fellow staff
- Comfortable with a flexible, fast-paced environment (where sometimes glitterwillget everywhere!)
- CPR/First Aid Certified (or willing to get certified—we’ll help!)

- Position: Full-time, year-round
- Schedule: Weekdays (after-school hours during the school year; daytime during summer camps)
- Location: Winchester, MA

- Training and curriculum support provided
