**Financial Resilience Officer**

**£ 35,235 – £41,511 per annum**

**Honiton Home Working**

**Full Time – 37 hours (flexible working may be considered)**

**About the role**

East Devon District Council is committed to tackling poverty and this creative
role plays an integral part in aiding the production of the Councils anti-
poverty strategy. In this interesting and varied role, you will need to think
outside the box and source ways to support people who are facing hardship
and living in poverty. This will include accessing discretionary funding as
appropriate and working in partnership with other organisations including
Citizens Advice East Devon, Department for Works and Pensions, Housing
Associations, food banks and community groups in the voluntary sector.

**About you**

With a good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent), you will also ideally
have knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Council Tax and debt recovery legislation
as well as up to date knowledge of Housing, local and national policies, and
the ability to review finances and budgets to help residents maximise income
and minimise expenditure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are
essential to enable effective communication with a wide range of people,
explaining complex legislation in a straightforward way and discussing
sometimes difficult and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy. You will
need to be a team player and self-motivated to organise and manage your own
workload whilst also possessing problem solving skills to enable you to find
innovative and creative solutions to the issues and problems facing our
residents.

A valid driving license and own car are essential (reasonable adjustments may
be possible according to the Equality Act)
