The Opportunity

You will lead the delivery and development of our Design, Surveying and Planning T Level and Higher Education courses. You will take charge of the day to day running of these programmes, creating a high-quality learning experience for all our students. With support from the Programme Manager, you will guide a team of 4 to 6 staff, including colleagues working on our HE provision, and support around 100 students across the curriculum.

You will be based at the CUBE our state-of-the-art construction centre which is designed to reflect the very best of the modern construction industry. The CUBE provides a professional, well-resourced environment that brings learning to life, with access to the Clean Energy Training Centre and cutting-edge equipment to support the development of future construction professionals.

Key responsibilities:

  • Playing a significant role in shaping the future of the department by helping to introduce new courses and innovative delivery methods
  • Contributing to strengthening and expanding the curriculum to meet industry standards and support student progression
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local employers and external partners to enhance student opportunities and raise the department profile
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure the provision meets the needs of both learners and industry
  • Managing staffing throughout the academic year, ensuring appropriate cover and support is in place
  • Monitoring learner progress on a weekly basis and act where needed to support achievement
  • Supporting planning, teaching and assessment across your courses
  • Leading course reviews and contribute to curriculum planning and development
  • Creating new teaching resources and assessment materials to support high-quality delivery
  • Supporting student recruitment through interviews, assessments, and participation in school events and promotions
  • Providing line management to teaching and support staff linked to your courses
  • Receiving the training and guidance needed to carry out your leadership responsibilities confidently and effectively

About You

We are seeking someone with a strong background in the construction industry and a genuine passion for education and curriculum development. You will need a minimum of 2 years relevant experience as a lecturer or teacher within the Construction sector, along with the skills and confidence to lead on the delivery of high-quality T Level and Higher Education programmes.

You should bring a clear understanding of curriculum review, development and planning strategies, and be confident in shaping and improving teaching and learning across your courses. The ability to devise strategies that improve attendance, retention, achievement and success rates will be key, as will your supportive approach in guiding students through meaningful and constructive feedback.

We are looking for someone with strong classroom practice and a sound understanding of a range of teaching methodologies. Your knowledge of the pastoral needs of learners will help you support students both academically and personally, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. You should also be confident analysing and interpreting data to inform decisions and generate practical solutions that benefit both staff and students. Good IT skills will also be important, particularly in supporting teaching, tracking progress and managing course information effectively.

You will need strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage your time effectively and support a team of staff in a fast-paced educational setting. Ideally, you will hold a teaching qualification and have experience working with post-16 learners. You will also be expected to engage with employers and external partners to strengthen our industry links and enhance the learner experience.

Required

  • Cert Ed, PGCE or Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training (DTLLS), or a willingness to work towards gaining a recognised teaching qualification
  • A relevant Level 3 qualification in Construction or a closely related discipline
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
  • At least 2 years of recent and relevant teaching or lecturing experience within the Construction sector
