Dexerto is the leading voice in gaming, entertainment, and influencer culture – reaching millions every month with sharp, engaging content about the internet’s biggest names and trends. We\’re looking for a Senior Writer in the UK to join our team. This is a full-time role with the expectation of working weekends. It will also require you to work from 2pm-10pm.
In This Role, You\’ll Write About
Video Games – including big titles like Call of Duty, EA FC, and other mainstream games such as Elden Ring.
Entertainment – focusing on viral news, Twitch streamers, YouTubers, and content creators.
TV and Movies – covering major news as it breaks.
Esports – occasionally covering the latest in competitive gaming.
You won’t need to have encyclopaedic knowledge in every single one of the above areas, but you do need an awareness of what we cover – being open to learning about new topics and adapting to trends is crucial.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Sourcing, writing, and editing stories across multiple topics, from video game updates (like Call of Duty and EA FC) to viral entertainment moments and breaking TV and movie news.
- Sub-editing to ensure content is clear, accurate, and aligned with Dexerto’s editorial standards.
- Sharing articles on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Leading weekend coverage, sourcing, writing, and publishing content independently on Dexerto.com and social media.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven professional writing experience. Ideally covering entertainment topics such as gaming, TV and Movies, and viral news.
- Social media expertise, particularly in a professional capacity, and a strong understanding of how to engage online audiences.
- The ability to learn and adapt quickly to different topics – especially when breaking news hits in TV, movies, or entertainment.
- A passion for video games with knowledge of mainstream games such as Call of Duty, EA FC, and more
- Knowledge of TV and Movies
- Awareness of big Twitch streamers, YouTubers and other content creators
- Strong editorial judgment with the instinct to know what stories will resonate with our audience
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Covering politics or serious current affairs – this role is focused on the fast-moving, fun, and engaging world of entertainment
