An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Curriculum Lead (internally known as Programme Director) in Plumbing and Gas at EKC Canterbury College. This is a fantastic role for an inspiring educator with industry expertise who’s ready to lead, teach, and shape the next generation of skilled professionals.
This is primarily a teaching role with additional responsibility for the development and coordination of the curriculum area.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Plan and deliver engaging, innovative lessons in Plumbing and Gas to a diverse range of learners
Support, assess, and guide students through their coursework, ensuring they stay on track for success
Design a distinctive curriculum that meets local and regional skills needs
Collaborate with the department leadership team to ensure outstanding student progression
Lead and coordinate the delivery team, ensuring consistent and up-to-date course information is provided
Develop course handbooks and programme activities aligned with awarding body standards
Monitor and maintain quality in teaching, learning, and assessment standards

A teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) – this is essential
Experience within the Plumbing and Gas industry

About You
We\’re seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual who is ready to lead, teach, and inspire in the Plumbing and Gas curriculum area.
You will:
Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Be passionate about supporting student success and making a real impact on their future careers
Be confident in assessing, tracking and responding to student progress through effective interventions
Provide academic leadership and subject guidance, ensuring curriculum delivery is of the highest quality
Manage the day-to-day curriculum delivery and accreditation process
Build strong working relationships with students, colleagues, and external stakeholders
Oversee curriculum provision from the ground up — shaping its direction and outcomes
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent)
Proven teaching experience in a relevant subject area
A Level 3 qualification in Plumbing and Heating
A genuine passion for teaching and a commitment to learner development
Desirable Qualifications & Skills

A Level 3 TAQA or A1 Assessor qualification
Previous experience in a curriculum leadership or management role
Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and support a delivery team

All candidates will start at the introductory salary scale point unless certain criteria are met.Employees can move up the salary scale once you have worked as a Programme Director for our group for one entire academic year, subject to approval.Therefore, internal applicants may qualify for the higher salary scale, although should seek clarification.
