Careers Springboard is a registered charity, founded in 1991, which helps and coaches job seekers who are trying to get back into employment. We are seeking a volunteer to co-ordinate the work of our coaches who help our job seekers.

What difference will you make?

Your input as a volunteer co-ordinator will make a very positive impact on those who are seeking help to pull themselves back into employment. You will be the first point of contact for those job seekers who ask for our 1-2-1 services. With your help we will be able to continue to promote our coaching services for the benefit of our end users – the job seekers. You will help us reach out and spread the word of Careers Springboard 1-2-1 services Your communications with our job seekers (members) will help amplify the work already being done by an excellent team of volunteers. You can arrange for our coaches to provide online personalised support, guidance and encouragement to job seekers who join Careers Springboard. Our informal self help group helps job seekers to get to grips with their situation, generating confidence and demonstrating how a job search is best managed. The timing of coaching sessions will be at the discretion of the coaches. The sessions usually last up to one hour. Follow up coaching sessions may also be provided in some instances.

What are we looking for?

Almost all communications are by email. A volunteer coach co-ordinator does not require any coaching qualification but he/she does need some experience of administration and a proven ability to keep in contact via email (occasionally by phone or Zoom) with the team of six coaches who will need to be put in touch with the job seekers seeking coaching help. Experience of at least three years in co-ordinator / administration roles are required. Qualities which will be important for the co-ordinator are clear thinking, politeness, calm, motivation, soft determination, commitment, helping, responsive, simple record keeping. Training and guidance will be provided by the two current co-ordinators. The volunteer co-ordinator can expect to spend 2-3 hours per week in the role.

What will you be doing?

Careers Springboard is based at Gerrards Cross, South Bucks, but this matters little because the co-ordinator role takes place online from anywhere in the UK. We have a weekly online Zoom meeting on a Monday evening when there is a presentation on a job search related topic. Attendance on a Monday evening averages 50+. Over the past 30+ years, we have helped over 3,500 job seekers (members) to secure new employment. We have a team of 8 qualified professionals who provide 1-2-1 coaching to our job seekers (members). Due to increasing demand for our 1-2-1 services, Careers Springboard is looking to increase our current team of two co-ordinators. Job seekers can apply for coaching using a simple application process outlined on our website. Applications for coaching are initially handled by volunteer co-ordinators who obtain a \”picture\” of what coaching is being requested before contacting our volunteer coaches to take the application forward. This coaching can be arranged and provided on any day of the week and at any time to suit the job seeker and the coach. Volunteer coach co-ordinators will oversee the scheduling of coaching sessions in close liaison with the qualified coaches and are the first point of contact for any concerns or complaints.
