Senior Infection Prevention and Control Nurse Specialist
This vacancy is open to employees of Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust only.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with strong leadership skills that will inspire and motivate others to take individual responsibility for IPC across the Trust.
The successful candidate will be expected to be an expert autonomous practitioner with excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will need to promote and set high standards of IPC, providing expert advice to mitigate risks of infection to patients, staff and visitors.

Job responsibilities
Key duties of the role include:
- Promote and set high standards of IPC in line with Trust policies, protocols and guidelines.
- You will be required to work to high standards maintaining a high quality finish to aspects of your work.
- Liaise with the operations department and bed managers on a daily basis to ensure effective patient placement and minimise risk of infection.
- Apply microbiological, immunological and epidemiological knowledge to reduce and prevent infections and communicable disease.
- To act as a role model of expert clinical practice empowering others through effective role modelling, teaching and team working.
- Be a strong patient advocate, ensuring that the care of patients reflects best clinical standards.
- To work with the DIPC/Dep DIPC/Senior Matron to contribute to development of the IPC strategy.
- Responsible for the day-to-day linemanagement of staff.
- To provide support and mentorship for more junior members of the team.

- Current RN with NMC registration
- Recognised Specialist post registration qualification in Infection Control
- Teaching qualification/experience
- BSc Degree Level Qualification (considering or working towards a MSc)

- Evidence of change management with relevant management/leadership course
- Evidence of developing policy, guidelines and managing resources
- Clinical supervision
