Affinity Water is pursuing an ambitious programme to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We are reducing the emissions associated with the assets we construct and operate by applying industry best practice and implementing innovative solutions.
We are looking for a Low Carbon Asset Adviser who can work with our teams in Asset Planning and Capital Delivery to help them implement the principles of PAS 2080, explore low carbon solutions and model the whole life carbon associated with different asset solutions.
About the role
The Low Carbon Asset Adviser will play a key role in supporting Affinity Water’s ambition to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the asset lifecycle. The purpose of this role is to enable and embed low carbon thinking across asset planning and capital delivery by guiding teams in the application of PAS 2080, identifying opportunities for low carbon solutions, and modelling whole life carbon impacts. Through data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and continual improvement, the adviser will contribute to robust carbon assessments and promote best practice in emissions reduction both internally and across the wider supply chain.
What you\’ll be doing
- Supporting our Asset Management teams to estimate the carbon associated with capital projects.
- Supporting the collection, analysis and reporting of carbon assessment data
- Champion the evaluation of, and recommendations for, low emissions materials and techniques for our capital delivery projects
- Maintaining our database of carbon models
- Driving continuous improvement in the quality of our emissions reporting
- Provide administrative support to our internal governance structures which oversee emissions reductions.
- Contribute to discussions in the industry through conferences, events, and publications
- Support delivery of internal education initiatives to build carbon literacy and maturity
- Strengthen carbon maturity and emissions reporting capability across the supply chain
What you need
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline. 2+ years of experience
- Experience in data collation, validation and analysis
- Proficient and influential communicator
- Member of / affiliation to an environment management body is desirable but not essential
- Awareness of assessing carbon for asset or a built environment setting – Desirable
- Experience working in an Asset Management environment – Desirable
- Experience of climate change risk assessment, adaptation or similar – Desirable
