About The Role
This role is designed to give the successful applicant hands on experience of an ongoing research project. The purpose of the role is to assist with the construction of a database from treatment seeking gamblers, to allow retrospective analysis of the data. This will involve working with existing clinical data, extracting key variables, and compiling into an existing database template. The second component of the role is to make contact with individuals who have indicated a willingness to take part in further research, and to send them relevant materials and keep accurate records of who has been sent materials.
The successful applicant will report to the Dr. Steve Sharman.
This is a full-time post. You will be offered an a fixed term contract to run for 6 months from the date of commencement. If the role cannot be taken up full-time (35 hours per week), there is potential for flexible working (e.g. longer time but less days per week). The successful candidate will be required to work on site in west London.
Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria
- Degree in Psychology or adjacent discipline.
- Highly organized, with a good eye for detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience of working with treatment seeking populations
- Experience of coding data in statistics packages such as SPSS
- Flexibility to adapt to the requirements of the project and role
Desirable criteria
- Interest in and knowledge of behavioural addiction, specifically gambling
- Familiarity with NHS systems
