We are delighted to be recruiting two full-time Apprentice Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) roles
within Community Child & Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) in Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire, and Swindon (BSW). One post will be based in Marlborough Community CAMHS, the other in Melksham Community CAMHS.
About the CAP Apprenticeship
The apprenticeship is an 18-month full-time training program combining work-based clinical experience with University postgraduate study.
Successful completion leads to an MSc in Clinical Associate in Psychology and eligibility for employment as a qualified CAP (Band 6).
Role and Responsibilities
You will join supportive psychologists and CAMHS teams to deliver high-quality mental health services to children, young people, and their families. CAPs are valued members of the service, benefiting from the support of a dedicated Clinical Lead.
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Minimum of a 2:2 BSc (Hons) Psychology degree accredited by the British Psychological Society
- Eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership
- Qualifications in English and Mathematics at Level 2 (GCSE grade C/4 or Functional Skills)

Training and Practice
During training, CAPs develop expertise with specific populations and provide a prescribed range of activities within CAMHS. They practice under supervision of a registered Clinical Psychologist, delivering evidence-based psychological interventions.
They also contribute to training, research, and evaluation activities, depending on experience and competence.
Training Details
Apprentices will enroll in the University of Bath MSc CAP program, with some in-person teaching required. Clinical bases are located within Melksham or Marlborough CAMHS community teams.
