SAS Senior Analyst

Location: Swindon or London

Salary: Circa £40,000

As we evolve our 1-1 member marketing communications, we have increasing demands for high quality and timely campaign performance and analysis to help understand what has worked, what didn’t work and what we would recommend moving forward. We have an exciting Senior Analyst role in our Marketing Analytics, Effectiveness & Brand Performance Team to focus on Campaign Performance & Analysis: using existing reporting tools to understand the latest campaign metrics and performing deeper dive analysis to answer campaign specific questions.

Reporting into the Analysis Manager, you’ll be working in a busy, fast-paced team enabling colleagues to focus on delivering a varied marketing plan and evolve our approach to planning and in particular our measuring and performance capabilities. Marketing Analytics, Effectiveness & Brand Performance work alongside the Member Marketing Communications and Database Marketing Teams and our purpose is to support the ongoing engagement with our 16 million members, driving short term action and longer-term brand awareness and consideration. This is an exciting role which will enable you to be a driver in campaign performance and personalised communications.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London offices. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be working closely with the Planning and Partnering Team to provide analysis on the performance of our 1-1 member campaigns. The campaigns are across different channels, mainly email, mail and digital and using different data sources to target different member groups. You will be using some performance metrics created from our in-house reporting tool – Marketing, Effectiveness & Performance (MEP) and also advising and in most cases carrying out more in-depth campaign performance around channel, targeting groups and creative performance.

You will be responsible for leading Campaign Performance reviews within our product teams so that we can ensure all learnings from our campaign are reviewed and any recommendations are incorporated into future campaigns. This will help us improve our results through targeting the right members with the right product and with the right creative message.

About you

We’re looking for someone with the following skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Previous experience in Campaign Performance with knowledge of AB testing, control groups, significance testing and typical inclusion and exclusion criteria applied within marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, in particular pivot tables, to read results from existing reports and also produce new reports as and when required.
  • Proven experience of SAS to interrogate different data sources and summarise campaign results as well as providing additional ad-hoc analysis to understand different member journeys.
  • Be able to present results to a non-technical audience and advise on recommendations going forwards.
  • A high level of numeracy and critical thinking: you can quickly assess campaign results and work with stakeholders to drive forward recommendations.

Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

  • Say it straight – This is about being honest and direct with good intent and saying what needs to be said in the room. It’s also about being clear, precise, and using language that we and, importantly, our customers and members can understand.
  • Push for better – This is about aiming high and constantly looking for better in how we work together and serve our customers and members.
  • Get it done – This is about prioritising what will have the greatest impact, being decisive and taking accountability for delivering on the end-to-end outcome.

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.
