Machine Operator
DS Smith Kemsley is looking for a Preparation Plant Operator to work as a member of a recycling/stock preparation team in the control and preparation of raw materials for processing. To assist in the production of stock furnish for paper machine efficiency, and to conform to customer defined specification.
Key Accountabilities:
- To assist in the efficient operation of the stock preparation plant, through the assessment, monitoring, adjustment and coordination of stock preparation systems and equipment
- To assist in ensuring that stock preparation process parameters are conformed to and met, and where appropriate in conjunction with the team, takes remedial action to maintain processing parameters.
- Ensures compliance with the defined quality standards and procedures in conjunction with members of the team.
- Ensures compliance with Health and Safety and Environmental systems and procedures in conjunction with members of the team.
- Communicates clearly and in a timely manner with the crew and managers, being an active and constructive member of the team.
- Participate in driver/crane training for a variety of vehicles to achieve DS Smith level of competence required.
- Produce reports and checklists as required.
- Assist in training and developing others as required.
- Assist with maintenance across the department, where suitable training has been given.
- Complete the necessary training to accept permits for plant maintenance.
- Flexibility with additional hours where required, to ensure continued production for the operation.
Ideally the candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Respect of all individuals, and communicates issues immediately to Team leader to ensure the operation runs smoothly and safely and produces product of the correct quality that meets the customer specification, whilst complying with company environmental standards
- Attention to detail.
- Promotes and demonstrates the company values as set out in the Values Statement
- Participates in the annual Performance Management System and contributes to Personal Development Plan each year.
- A good understanding of the papermaking process
- DCS experience would be beneficial.
- Must hold a Full UK Driving License and has experience in driving fork truck, JCB and Bobcat MHE (training will be given)
- Experience in the use of overhead crane
- A proactive member of the team, communicating in a positive manner with colleagues and Management.
- Demonstrates attention to detail as Outlined in the Competency Framework
- Participates in the induction process and formalised training as directed by Management.
