About the Role

Are you a confident and supportive leader with a passion for delivering high-quality academic services?

We are looking for an Assessment Team Leader to join our Assessment Team in the newly designed Student and Academic Services (SAS) Directorate, where you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of assessment activities across the University and its partners.

In this role, you will manage a team responsible for a range of essential functions including the coordination of assessment data collection, Examination Boards, and formal examinations, as well as the timely delivery of student certificates and transcripts (HEARs). You will help to ensure that every stage of the assessment process runs smoothly, accurately, and in line with University standards and deadlines.

As a team leader, you will guide and empower your staff to take initiative, spot opportunities for improvement, and develop solutions that enhance the efficiency and quality of our services. You will work closely with colleagues and managers to ensure a responsive, student-focused approach, and help shape the continued development of assessment processes.

If you are an organised, collaborative leader with a strong understanding of academic administration and a commitment to service excellence, we would love to hear from you.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a proactive and organised team leader with experience using student records systems to support complex assessment processes. You will have a strong track record in managing and developing staff, providing regulatory advice, and delivering high-quality services to strict deadlines.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and planning skills are essential, along with a flexible, solution-focused approach and a commitment to outstanding customer service. Experience in Higher Education, with relevant qualifications, or professional membership (e.g. AHEP) would be an advantage.

How will you work

Our team operates on a hybrid working model, with colleagues typically working two days per week on campus and three days remotely. During peak periods such as examination seasons or other key assessment activities there may be a need for increased on-campus presence to support service delivery.

We are committed to supporting flexible working where possible, and we encourage a healthy work-life balance. At the same time, we aim to ensure that business needs and service expectations are met, and that we maintain a strong collaborative culture across the team.
