Senior Compliance Officer – Fixed Term Contract (18 Months)

Location: Central London | Department: Business Acceptance | Hybrid Working Available

A highly regarded international law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join its Business Acceptance team on an 18-month fixed term contract basis. This is a unique opportunity to take on a senior role within a collaborative and fast-paced compliance function, supporting a global legal practice.

About the Role

This position blends hands-on compliance responsibilities with leadership and mentoring. You\’ll oversee client onboarding and matter opening workflows, act as a senior escalation point for complex queries, and supervise a small team of Compliance Officers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and allocating day-to-day workflow across the team
  • Advising on conflicts, AML, CDD, sanctions, and other business acceptance issues
  • Supervising and mentoring a pod of Compliance Officers
  • Delivering training and supporting policy development
  • Assisting with system upgrades and lateral hire checks
  • Providing occasional out-of-hours support on urgent matters

They\’re looking for a confident and pragmatic compliance professional with a strong understanding of AML and conflicts regulations, ideally gained within a law firm environment.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years\’ experience in a business acceptance or compliance role
  • Strong knowledge of AML and conflicts rules across multiple jurisdictions
  • Experience using compliance tools such as Intapp Open, Orbis, and Accuity
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
