Senior Compliance Officer – Fixed Term Contract (18 Months)

A highly regarded international law firm is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join its Business Acceptance team on an 18-month fixed term contract basis. This is a unique opportunity to take on a senior role within a collaborative and fast-paced compliance function, supporting a global legal practice.
About the Role
This position blends hands-on compliance responsibilities with leadership and mentoring. You\’ll oversee client onboarding and matter opening workflows, act as a senior escalation point for complex queries, and supervise a small team of Compliance Officers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and allocating day-to-day workflow across the team
- Advising on conflicts, AML, CDD, sanctions, and other business acceptance issues
- Supervising and mentoring a pod of Compliance Officers
- Delivering training and supporting policy development
- Assisting with system upgrades and lateral hire checks
- Providing occasional out-of-hours support on urgent matters
What They\’re Looking For
They\’re looking for a confident and pragmatic compliance professional with a strong understanding of AML and conflicts regulations, ideally gained within a law firm environment.
Essential skills and experience:
- Minimum of 4 years\’ experience in a business acceptance or compliance role
- Strong knowledge of AML and conflicts rules across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience using compliance tools such as Intapp Open, Orbis, and Accuity
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead and mentor junior team members
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
