Are you an experienced electrician ready to share your skills and help shape the future of the electrical industry? The Faculty of Construction and Engineering is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assessor/Trainer in Electrical Installations who brings real‑world expertise and a passion for developing others.

In this dynamic, hands‑on role, your industry experience will play a vital part in delivering high‑quality training. You\’ll help maintain safe, well‑organised workshops, prepare high‑standard training materials, and ensure stock and equipment are ready to support outstanding practical learning.

Working closely with teaching and support teams, you\’ll guide learners throughout their journey, bringing your trade background into every session and helping students build the confidence and competence needed to succeed in modern industry.

You\’ll also deliver practical assessments and training sessions across our campuses, and occasionally in industry settings, supporting live projects and ensuring all activity meets the highest standards of safety, quality and compliance.

About the Role

  • Set high expectations for learner work, effort and behaviour.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Deliver high‑quality training and practical assessments with engaging, relevant materials.
  • Maintain safe, well‑equipped workshops and ensure full compliance with regulations.
  • Lead and support practical projects that deliver outstanding outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong professional partnerships with staff, learners and employers.
  • Manage stock, equipment and ordering processes.
  • Prepare resources efficiently and to an excellent standard.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, working groups and committees.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Track learner progress with clear goals, reviews and feedback.
  • Support the promotion and visibility of Electrical Installation programmes.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development to enhance your practice.

Essential Qualifications

  • Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or equivalent).
  • Assessor Award, or willingness to achieve during employment.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or a valid ECS Gold Card.

Essential Experience

  • Significant hands‑on industrial experience in the electrical sector.
  • Supervisory experience or experience working directly with customers, clients or students.
  • Experience training or assessing electrical subjects.
