Overview
Social Worker – Safeguarding Adults at Cumberland Council
Location: Carlisle or Workington | Hours: 37 | Contract: Permanent
We’re recruiting three enthusiastic and committed practitioners to join our Safeguarding Adults Team in Cumberland. Based primarily across North and West Cumbria, with flexibility to support other areas, this role focuses on protecting adults at risk, leading safeguarding enquiries, chairing case conferences, and working with partners such as health services, the police, and the voluntary sector. You’ll manage a varied caseload, provide expert safeguarding advice, and use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals, reduce risks, and protect vulnerable adults from harm, abuse, and neglect.

Responsibilities
- Lead safeguarding enquiries and chair case conferences as part of the Safeguarding Adults Team.
- Provide expert safeguarding advice to partners and colleagues.
- Manage a varied caseload using a strengths-based, person-centred approach.
- Collaborate with health services, the police, and the voluntary sector to protect adults at risk.
Qualifications and experience
- Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration.
- Experience of the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, and safeguarding principles is desirable.
- Commitment to protecting others and working in partnership to achieve positive outcomes.
