We are currently seeking to fill the position of Swim School Instructor.
Location: George Watson’s College, Edinburgh
Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time, part-time, maximum of 10 hours per week
Salary: £26,301 – £29,351 (based on 36.25 hrs per week, 52 weeks per year). This equates to £6,138 – £6,851 per annum (based on 10 hours per week/44 weeks per year). A market pay supplement will apply, bringing the total hourly rate to £18.00 (to be confirmed depending on experience and qualifications).

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, energetic, and experienced Swimming Instructors to deliver lessons for our swimming school programme. Instructors will plan and deliver lessons over a 3-day period on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons, following the Scottish Swimming learn to swim framework. There is also opportunity to teach Adult 1-1 lessons in the evenings and work additional hours during swim camps in the school holidays; these will be paid at a higher rate, including holiday pay.
- Core hours will be 3.15pm – 6.30pm, totaling 3.25 hours per day
- Working days available are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Hours of work will be 10 hours per week, term time only (36 weeks plus professional learning days). The annual leave entitlement is seven weeks, totaling 44 weeks per year. The salary for this position is in Grade 2, ranging from £26,301 to £29,351, based on 36.25 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, which equates to an actual annual salary of £6,138 – £6,851.
- Provide enjoyable, motivating, and engaging swimming lessons for the Galleon Swim School programme.
- Deliver 2.5 hours of lessons each day over Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, between 3.30pm and 6.30pm.
- Be responsible for delivering the Swim Programme, working with the Swim Coordinator to ensure satisfaction with the framework, and participating in CPD sessions and development plans.
- Maintain a positive attitude and high level of customer service at all times.

- At least 2 years of teaching experience in a swimming environment.
- Passion for swimming and teaching techniques at a high standard.
- Experience delivering swimming lessons to SSTQ, UKCC Level 2, or equivalent.
- Ability to demonstrate all four strokes.
- In-water teaching experience without flotation devices.
