About the role
The John Lewis Partnership offers a 13-week training programme to support aspiring candidates in becoming qualified LGV drivers. Applicants must be 18 years or older. The programme includes written and practical assessments. Successful candidates will need to obtain a C+E provisional licence before starting and complete a D4 medical assessment.
Salary range: £12.21 per hour
Contract type: Permanent
Work Pattern: 43 hours a week, including weekends
Location: Aylesford RDC
Details of the role
- During the training, you will be paid £12.21/hour, working Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 15:00, for 43 hours a week.
- After passing the programme and obtaining your LGV licence, the pay increases to a minimum of £13.71/hour for 43 hours weekly.
- Post-training, discussions will determine your shift, based on business needs.
- You will work a 7/8 week rota, with any 5 days from 7, including weekends.
Responsibilities
We will provide comprehensive training to help you gain the necessary licences and secure a permanent driving role. Responsibilities include passing all LGV modules, completing deliveries and collections within timescales, vehicle checks, trailer coupling/uncoupling, accurate documentation, safe driving, vehicle maintenance, communication, loading/unloading, and compliance with regulations and standards.
Following the initial 13 weeks, additional training on night shifts will be provided, including branch deliveries and collections, with assessments leading to a LGV1 Night Shift driver role within approximately 17 weeks.
