CLASS 1 SHUNTER DRIVER

  • Week 1: Sunday to Thursday
  • Week 2: Monday to Friday
  • Sunday: 08:00 – 16:00/18:00
  • Monday to Friday: 11:00 – 18:00/20:00 (with some flexibility required)

PAY RATE: £160 – £175 PER DAY

Rates of Pay:

  • Monday to Friday – £160 per shift
  • Sunday – £175 per shift

Day to Day Duties

Your duties as a Class 1 Shunter Driver will involve but not be limited to:

  • Shunting of 45ft and double deck trailers onto allocated bays.
  • Operate and drive various Class 1 vehicles in a safe and efficient manner to and from delivery locations
  • Daily yard checks following site rules, health & safety guidelines.
  • Ensure all cargo is loaded and secured properly
  • Adhere to traffic laws and regulations
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers
  • Report any vehicle defects or maintenance needs to management
  • Able to cover trunking routes when required.

Essential Skills

As a Class 1 Shunter Driver you will need to:

  • Hold a valid UK Category CE Licence
  • Minimum of 2 years experience driving and shunting.
  • No more than six penalty points for minor infringements and no major endorsement codes
  • Have a valid UK CPC Card & UK Digi Card
  • Must be able to speak and read a good level of English
  • Punctuality and excellent time keeping skills
  • Have a good understanding of traffic laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication as they will be communicating with both Transport and warehouse, using a radio is essential to the role.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a fast paced environment

Training

  • Industry related training and ongoing support throughout.
