As a Delivery Sponsor, youll work closely with HS2 Ltd to drive performance across cost, schedule, risk, and engagement. Youll identify and remove delivery barriers, represent the project within government, and provide assurance to Ministers and taxpayers. Youll gain hands-on experience and access to formal training in a supportive and high-performing team.
These G7 roles share responsibility with two other Sponsors for managing Phase 1s main civil works and Old Oak Common Station. Civil works are split into four packages, delivered by Joint Ventures – with one of these G7 roles sponsoring two of these Joint Ventures and leading on cross-cutting risks and issues. The second G7 role focuses on sponsoring the delivery of Old Oak Common Station, and the Departments interests in the new development surrounding the station.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Working collaboratively, driving successful outcomes, setting direction and vision, and motivating and engaging teams
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with all those involved in the delivery of the project. Supporting HS2 Ltd to resolve issues, including complex commercial interface issues. Ensuring the Department has a good understanding of progress on construction and working to bring the new railway into service
- Working closely with stakeholders to ensure that there is a robust and reliable schedule for the project, monitoring HS2 Ltd.\’s progress against this plan, analysing Management Information to identify trends or issues with progress

About you
We are looking for two experienced project delivery professionals with a strong track record in infrastructure and/or major project and programme delivery. You will have a proven ability to develop inclusive, high-performing team cultures and support others in building their capability. Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are essential – you will be articulate, credible, and confident engaging at senior levels across government and the transport industry. You will bring excellent verbal and written communication skills, using these to influence, manage differing views, and build effective relationships. Youll also have experience working with performance data or management information, able to interpret and communicate complex issues clearly. Crucially, you will have a history of developing productive, cross-organisational relationships to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
