At Bam we are currently recruiting for a Senior Social Value Manager for our Scotland region.
Your work will involve delivering BAM Social Sustainability Strategy, encompassing Social Mobility, Foundational economy, and Social Inclusion activity. You will guide and manage a high performing team in Scotland, working predominantly with (but not limited to) our civils clients and internal and external stakeholders.
The role will involve a mixture of working from our Kilsyth office, from home and on project sites across Scotland. Hybrid flexible working arrangements are encouraged and actively supported.

- Drives the team to develop and deliver high-quality social sustainability plans, setting targets that align with the National TOMs criteria as well as client expectations/contractual requirements.
- Builds relationships with strategic leads across the region and UK&I business to deliver BAMs Social Sustainability strategy.
- Develops and applies Enabling Service policies and procedures to meet best practice.
- Takes a lead on strategically important client relationships and supports sensitive engagement to mitigate, manage, and resolve risks linked to strategic stakeholders.
- Reviews the work of the team to enhance stakeholder mapping/matrices, stakeholder and communication plans, and external communications.
- Leads the management of new or existing strategic partnerships or development of innovative programmes to deliver social value and enhance stakeholder management.
- Facilitates strategic/collaborative relationships with community groups, partners and geographies considering diverse needs and perspectives
- Maintains and reviews stakeholder and communication plans. Supports sensitive engagement to mitigate, manage and resolve risks linked to community engagement.
- Informs decisions on planning and investment related to partnerships required for community engagement.
- Works with the marketing and communications team to coordinate internal and external communication of social sustainability activities.
- Applies expert understanding to set contractual/performance targets, including and communicating Social Sustainability requirements as part of subcontract, supplier and supply chain contracts and negotiations.
- Represents BAM at post-tender interviews, presentations, behavioural assessments and relevant meetings
- Interprets regional or segment social sustainability performance data and utilises BAM dashboards to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and enhancement.
- Interprets qualitative and quantitative data at a regional level.
Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience in a similar role, with comprehensive knowledge of social value and social sustainability principles and performance measurement and reporting
- Ideal, a degree level qualification or equivalent
- Be highly competent in MS Suite especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- A willingness to travel regularly throughout the region, and UK&I as required, and a full UK driving licence
- Excellent organisational / time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experienced in stakeholder management/community engagement and managing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders
- Can demonstrate a deep and broad understanding of societal, industry and legislative drivers of social value.
- Identify, develop and implement appropriate continuous improvement
- Experienced and effective line and team manager, with experience of coaching and supporting the performance and professional development of others
- A strategic thinker with competencies and experience in independently and collaboratively driving performance and change in line with Social Sustainability Strategy
- A self-starter with a high degree of energy, self-motivation and drive
- Understands, applies, challenges and identifies opportunities relating Diversity and Inclusion in the context of social value and stakeholder management
- Expert knowledge and experience in National TOMs and has expertise in using tools and techniques to assess social value outputs, impact and outcomes
- Demonstrable experience of writing high-scoring tender responses and supporting tender submissions
- Enthusiasm and ability to inspire, influence and engage a broad cross section of stakeholders
