Our client, a respected organisation within the power utilities and renewables sector, is seeking a skilled O&M Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of onshore wind projects and industrial & commercial (I&C) developments across the UK. This is a field-based position with UK-wide travel, so candidates based in the Midlands or South East England will be well suited due to project locations and travel requirements.

This opportunity would suit a committed engineer who thrives on varied site work, problem-solving, and ensuring safe and efficient network operations. With plenty of scope for overtime and excellent development opportunities, this is an ideal role for an experienced engineer ready to take the next step.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspection and planned maintenance of HV/LV equipment on wind and I&C sites
  • Undertake HV/LV cable jointing and terminations when required
  • Perform protection testing and fault-finding
  • Install and test switchgear, transformers, and earthing systems
  • Plan and execute safe isolations, HV switching, and earthing up to 33kV
  • Prepare and issue work packs, RAMS, and safety documentation in line with regulations
  • Supervise site teams, sub-contractors, and technicians as needed
  • Liaise confidently with clients and stakeholders to deliver projects to high standards
  • Compile reports and maintain accurate site records

Essential Requirements:

  • HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (Power Distribution preferred)
  • Proven experience in HV O&M, ideally on private networks or renewable energy sites
  • Good understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices
  • Valid first aid and manual handling certificates
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays
  • IT literate and able to produce clear documentation
  • Authorised up to 33kV for switching and permit issuing
  • GWO certificates for onshore wind (advantageous but not essential)

Package & Benefits:

  • £40,000-£50,000 per annum (depending on experience)
  • Door-to-door pay
  • Overtime paid at x1.5 and x2
  • Annual bonus (10%)
  • Company vehicle and fuel card
