Applicants should hold a recognized qualification in Electrical Installation or Engineering (such as NVQ Level 3, BTEC National Diploma, or a comparable certification) and possess a solid understanding of mechanical systems. Experience in commercial environments is essential, with the flexibility and skillset to undertake tasks beyond standard electrical duties. A professional demeanor, courteous conduct, and neat personal presentation are essential. All candidates must be able to pass a background screening check (DBS).

Main Duties

  • Perform scheduled and responsive maintenance tasks, including portable appliance testing (PAT), electrical inspection reports, emergency lighting checks, and fire alarm testing.
  • Support the upkeep and testing of backup power systems including generators and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
  • Conduct electrical maintenance and repairs in line with current regulations and industry standards.
  • Identify and fix faults within your technical skillset.
  • Complete relevant compliance documentation using digital certification tools.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed to the highest quality standards.
  • Assist other trades as needed to maintain a safe and efficient maintenance service.
  • Act promptly during urgent situations and carry out effective solutions.
  • Provide regular updates to clients regarding ongoing works and plans.
  • Work efficiently and with consideration to cost-effectiveness, minimizing idle time and promptly reporting any obstacles to supervisors or coordinators.
  • Follow all safety procedures, making use of risk assessments, appropriate work methods, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working order and ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of work completed, including photographic documentation where appropriate.
  • Be available for occasional out-of-hours duties and participate in a rota-based on-call system.
  • Collaborate across different teams or contracts within the organization as required by management.
  • Keep the company vehicle clean and roadworthy, and report issues without delay.

  • 2–5 years of experience in facilities management, property maintenance, or a similar hands-on role.

Certifications & Requirements

  • Mandatory : Certification in Electrical Regulations (e.g., City & Guilds 2382 – 17th Edition or later)

  • Mandatory : Testing and Inspection qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent)

  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or similar qualification

  • Full, valid UK driving licence

  • Must pass a DBS background check

  • Desirable: Training or awareness in PASMA/IPAF

  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems

  • Awareness or certification related to Legionella safety
