Transport & Plant Manager needed in Newark-on-Trent, £146.15 to £165.38 per day PAYE – Reference:AM1 Monday to Friday – 7AM – 4PM To ensure all legal, operational, and maintenance requirements are met in respect of the Operators Licence, mixed fleet operation, and overall management of plant machinery, ensuring the efficient and compliant use of all plant and equipment on contract. Operational Improvements & Compliance: o Drive operational improvements through assisting/leading audits and inspections both internally (contracts) and externally (Supply Chain). o Manage all plant machinery and fleet on contract, including hiring, off-hiring, purchasing, and ensuring the operational functionality of all plant. o Ensure full compliance with PUWER regulations and all relevant legal requirements related to the operation of plant and fleet equipment. o Ensure all vehicles and plant are maintained, serviced, and comply with regulatory requirements, including annual inspections and OCRS measurements. Fleet & Plant Management: o Oversee vehicle allocation and key management for all fleet and plant machinery under your control. o Implement and monitor a Vehicle Husbandry Plan (VHP) in conjunction with local contracts, ensuring that plant and fleet operations are efficient and cost-effective. o Lead the tracking of plant machinery, ensuring compliance and adherence to contract terms and regulatory requirements. Training & Compliance: o Organise relevant toolbox talks and training to ensure staff are aware of fleet management needs, plant machinery regulations, and legislation changes. o Ensure that all drivers hold a valid, relevant drivers license, including required driver cards, and that their qualifications, including Driver CPC, are up-to-date. o Ensure all staff working with plant machinery are fully trained and comply with health and safety standards, ensuring a safe working environment. Fleet & Plant Maintenance: o Ensure all vehicular and plant operations are carried out in accordance with UK and EU laws, as well as Group policies and procedures. o Maintain accurate records for all maintenance activities, vehicle inspections, and plant machinery compliance documentation. o Implement robust systems to track and report on maintenance, including the resolution of any defects and ensuring all vehicles and plant equipment are inspected and serviced as required. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: o Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental policies for both fleet and plant machinery. o Ensure that all fleet and plant are equipped with required safety equipment and adhere to legislation regarding safe loading, transportation, and environmental standards. o Monitor drivers hours, ensuring compliance with EU and domestic hours regulations through accurate tachograph management and reporting. Event & Project Planning: o Ensure that statutory events and checks for vehicles and plant machinery are completed on time, including LOLER and PUWER regulations. o Lead plant-related projects to enhance the functionality and compliance of all plant machinery, including the purchase, maintenance, and performance optimization of plant and fleet. o Develop and monitor clear wall planners for local sites to track key dates for inspections, repairs, and other regulatory checks. Accident Management & Incident Resolution: o Assist in the resolution of vehicular accident management incidents, ensuring effective incident reporting and the identification of corrective actions. o Provide support for the investigation of traffic offenses and assist in training and behavioural rectification as necessary. Performance Monitoring: o Regularly report on the performance and safety of fleet and plant machinery to senior management. o Identify risks, issues, and opportunities related to fleet and plant management and escalate to senior management where necessary. o Assist in setting and monitoring performance and safety targets for fleet and plant operations. Budget & Cost Management: o Manage budgets related to fleet and plant, ensuring cost control in areas such as purchasing, maintenance, and repairs. o Evaluate the financial performance of plant and fleet operations and recommend strategies to improve cost-effectiveness. Brand & Professional Integrity: o Uphold and protect the brand at all times by ensuring the highest standards in plant and fleet management. o Maintain your professional knowledge, ensuring you are up-to-date with legislative obligations and industry best practices, safeguarding the reputation. Miscellaneous: o Ensure that the plant and fleet machinery under your control complies with all necessary legal certifications, including Operator Licence discs and any other relevant permits.
