You are an experienced Planning Policy Team Leader with a strong understanding of urban planning and regeneration issues in a major city context. With a relevant degree or professional qualification, you possess in-depth knowledge of planning policies and have a proven track record of strategic planning and decision-making at both local and regional levels. You are politically aware, capable of working with diverse communities, and committed to promoting equal opportunities and service excellence.

What the job involves

As a Team Leader within the Planning and Growth division, you will lead in providing planning policy expertise for the development of the Southwark Plan. Your role involves fostering effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, leading policy document development, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality work. You will manage policy and monitoring opportunities in alignment with the Council’s objectives and collaborate with professional officers to support planning service delivery. The position requires writing complex reports, managing strategic projects, and guiding junior staff. You will maintain a presence in the office for at least 3 days a week in central London.
