West Somerset College is seeking a dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our supportive and dynamic team. This role is vital in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences, supporting students from Year 7 to Year 11, and contributing to the wider life of the school.

This is a part time term time only position working 15 hours per week (2 days a week), 39 weeks per year.

Salary: Band 5, points 7-9 (Actual Starting Salary: £8,842.97 per annum)

Anticipated start date: September 2025

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment.
  • Deliver pre-set lesson instructions and maintain pupil engagement and behaviour.
  • Respond to general student queries and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support with exam invigilation and accompany students on educational visits.
  • Provide administrative and pastoral support when not supervising lessons.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Assist with classroom displays and curriculum-related admin tasks.

  • Able to build positive relationships with students and staff.
