Overview:
An established and forward-thinking Building Services Consultancy based in Kent is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing MEP team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to take a lead role on a range of complex projects across sectors including commercial, residential, education, and healthcare.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services design and a proven track record of managing projects from concept through to completion. The consultancy offers a supportive, technically driven environment with excellent progression opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design on a range of building services projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.
- Deliver high-quality design work using relevant software such as Hevacomp, AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or IES.
- Oversee the preparation of specifications, reports, and drawings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to team development.
- Attend design and coordination meetings, site inspections, and liaise with contractors as needed.
- Maintain awareness of current industry standards, regulations, and innovations.
Candidate Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (or equivalent experience).
- Chartered or working toward Chartership with CIBSE or IMechE preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years\’ UK consultancy experience in building services.
- Proficient in mechanical design and calculations across HVAC, hot/cold water systems, ventilation, and renewables.
- Experience using design software such as Hevacomp, Revit MEP, IES, and AutoCAD.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred for site travel).
