Job Title: Locum Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner Team: Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
Location: Bromley
Rate: £39.04 LTD or £30.74 PAYE
Contract Length: 3 Months
Working Pattern: Full-time – Minimum 2 days per week in the office required
About the Role: The Bromley Children & Families Hub (formerly MASH) is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner to join our dynamic and expanding team. Established in 2014, the Hub acts as the front door for all children’s social care referrals and has grown in both size and complexity to meet the evolving safeguarding needs of children and young people in Bromley.
As a Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner within the MASH team, you will play a crucial role in the screening and triage of referrals, applying your professional expertise to assess risk and make informed decisions in a fast-paced, multi-agency environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake robust screening and triage of referrals concerning children and young people aged 0–18.
  • Assess and analyse risk using information from a range of multi-agency sources.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and guidance to inform decision-making.
  • Share and interpret information appropriately and lawfully with key partner agencies to ensure the safeguarding of children.
  • Make timely, evidence-based recommendations regarding the threshold for intervention.
  • Provide professional leadership and contribute to the development of social work practice within the Hub.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external professionals to ensure a co-ordinated and effective response.
  • Maintain accurate and high-quality records using the local authority’s IT systems.
  • Support less experienced staff and contribute to a culture of learning and reflective practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification (Degree/DipSW/CQSW)
  • Current Social Work England registration
  • Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory children and families work, including safeguarding
  • Proven experience working in or alongside a MASH, Duty and Assessment, or Front Door team
  • Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, thresholds, and statutory guidance
  • Ability to assess and manage risk within a multi-agency context
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyse complex information and make sound, evidence-based decisions
  • Strong IT skills and the ability to accurately record information on electronic case management systems
