We\βre seeking a full-time Caretaker to join a welcoming secondary school on the Wirral. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented school environment.
About the Role:
As a School Caretaker, you\βll play a key role in ensuring the school site is well maintained, secure, and ready to support learning every day. You\βll take responsibility for the day-to-day upkeep of the building, basic repairs, and general site management. The role requires someone proactive, hands-on, and able to work independently as well as part of a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks around the school site
Ensure the building and grounds are safe, clean, and secure at all times
Open and lock up the premises daily, including managing alarms and security systems
Monitor heating, lighting, and energy usage, reporting any issues promptly
Support with setting up rooms or equipment for school events and activities
Liaise with contractors and report maintenance issues to senior staff
Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed, including risk assessments
What We\βre Looking For:
Previous experience in a caretaker, site manager, or facilities role (school or similar environment preferred)
Practical maintenance or DIY skills
A good understanding of health and safety in a school or workplace setting
Reliable, organised, and able to work on your own initiative
Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours work when required
A valid enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
Desirable (but not essential):
