Job Description Supported Housing Worker – Sydenham As a Supported Housing Worker at one of our Support Units in Sydenham you will be passionate about supporting, empowering and guiding our residents to live as independently as possible with our continued guidance and ensure that you make a difference every day to their personal goals and desired outcomes. What you can expect for your hard work and dedication: · £13.00 – £13.85 per hour depending on experience and/or qualifications. · 45 hours per week – 8am to 6pm on a rota basis to cover alternate weekends. About the role of Supported Housing Worker: · Based on agreed support plans and risk assessments – work closely with residents to help them achieve their personal self-development and personal goals which are continually reviewed and will evolve as progress is made or desired outcomes change. · Support and inspire people, with the right tools and resources to develop skills, resources and confidence to live independently. · To provide a comprehensive support service working on strengths-based approach to practical and emotional needs. · Work in partnership with external services and stakeholders relating to alcohol and substance misuse to enhance resident support. · Develop activities which encourage routines to include daily living skills, housekeeping, laundry, cooking, personal hygiene and general wellbeing. · Assist with overall financial management – ensuring that residents have access to benefits and services available to them. · Ensure residents recognise their mental health needs and comply with medications that have been prescribed to manage this. · Recording and reporting – updating support plans as well as recording and evidencing incidents, accidents, etc. · To create SMART support plans and comprehensive risk assessments to empower our residents and keep them safe from harm, abuse or neglect. · Work within legislative and company guidelines and procedures. About you: · You must be based in the UK – we are unable to offer UK visa sponsorship. · Be enthusiastic, respectful, patient and kind. · A strong communicator, verbally and in writing in order to produce concise and accurate written updates and reports. · Previous experience of working within a supported housing setting or a similar support environment and an understanding of issues faced by homelessness, drug and alcohol misuse as well as other mental health conditions. · Able to work on own initiative as well as part of a team · Patient, a good listener and empathic with residents who may have suffered abuse, neglect and severe challenges over a number of years. · Reflective working is key to empower and strengthen relationships with our residents · Professional and respectful approach to colleagues and residents · Willingness to participate with the team in planning and taking part in activities · Key working the most complex service users with needs aligned with drug and alcohol dependency. · Able to follow company policies and procedures to fulfil the requirements of the role · Flexible to work shifts across weekdays and alternate weekends What we offer in return for your hard work as a Supported Housing Worker: – 28 Days holiday including bank holidays – Free on-site parking* – Enhanced bank holiday pay – Refer a Friend Scheme rewarding £500 for every person you refer – DBS certificate paid by Dinardos* – Comprehensive induction programme – Staff Appreciation Days – Employee Assistance Programme *Terms and conditions apply.
