Join Close Brothers Asset Finance & Leasing Finance Team where you will support the Head of Operational Finance and the Finance Director by maintaining the key financial controls over the general ledger, specifically loan book, bank, creditor and suspense accounts and managing and mentoring a team of three in accordance with the philosophy of Group Finance.
This is a hands-on position that combines leadership, analytical problem-solving, and technical expertise to ensure the smooth operation of our finance function. Excel-skills are important as the candidate would need to be able to manage large volumes of transactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
- Hold primary responsibility for Financial Control over the GL accounts that are posted to by the Alfa loan administration system, namely Loan book accounts, Creditors and suspense accounts.
- Hold primary responsibility for financial control of daily bank reconciliations to ensure they are produced accurately and that all reconciling items are investigated and cleared so that no items are outstanding beyond 1 month.
- Lead, motivate, mentor and develop a dedicated team of junior finance staff, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their professional careers.
- Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure they are completed and fully investigated within timescales along with the review, investigation and correction of all outstanding items.
- Data Management: Leverage strong Excel skills to analyse and interpret large volumes of financial data to produce general ledger reconciliations.
- Problem Solving: Use strong analytical skills to identify issues, assess risks, and recommend solutions to improve financial processes and decision-making.
Risk & Compliance
Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required.
Developing Our People: as a line manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and motivating your team, as well as developing performance through coaching. You will encourage your team to take responsibility for their own personal development and provide support through regular feedback.
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE/ARE:
- Proven experience in a finance role, with prior management experience.
- Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
- Willingness to get involved by performing detailed tasks such as reconciliations while maintaining a strategic outlook.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to influence others and effective at stakeholder management
- An excellent communicator
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent) or other relevant experience
IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL BUT IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:
- Background in asset finance and leasing
- Experience with ALFA lease management system
- Experience with SAP General Ledger (FICO)
- Experience with Alteryx
