Shape the conversation around the future of medicine. We are looking for a strategic and driven Head of Communications to champion awareness of medical cannabis and position Montu and Alternaleaf as leaders in a growing, regulated healthcare sector. In this hybrid role, you will craft and execute impactful external communications, manage agency partners, and engage key stakeholders from policymakers to the media, to influence public perception and drive meaningful change.
Role Description
- Develop and execute an external communications strategy to drive awareness and consideration of medical cannabis amongst consumers, and legitimisation amongst key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals
- Drive the public affairs agenda establishing the industry as a force for good, delivering safe and effective treatment for patients to help them get back to work and take pressure off the NHS, and reinforcing Alternaleaf and Montu as the market leader
- Manage the PR and PA agencies to deliver cut through coverage to drive to market awareness, consideration and acceptance, as well as build relationships with MPs, government, think thanks, regulators and charitable organisations
- Manage the timely development and approval of comms materials
- Feed back into the organisation relevant press coverage and public affairs insight
- Actively manage the patient advocate pipeline to generate testimonials and patients suitable for press, media and social media exposure, maintaining evidence base of patient consent
- Target and build mutually beneficial relationships with external organisations
- Work with the marketing team to exploit coverage and feedback consumer, media and public affairs insight
- Develop and maintain an understanding of the internal policies and operation of Alternaleaf and Montu, and the competitive landscape to be able to represent the organisation externally and lobby for enhancements internally.
Skills, Experience, and Qualification:
- 5+ years of experience of comms planning & execution, using PR and PA to shift attitudes and drive consideration of new opportunities
- Extensive agency management experience
- Strong crisis management planning and experience to mitigate risk of reputational damage
- Experience of working in regulated industries (healthcare desirable)
