What You\’ll Do

In this role you will shape Viasat L band systems future products and services, from concept, definition and analysis to test in a satellite communications environment. This will include shaping SATCOM systems and payload architectural design, including detailed planning of all system aspects (digital communications theory to simulations and scripting and integration and testing of the same). This is a great opportunity to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams including Business Development, Systems, Software, RF circuits, Test Engineering and others. You will also be developing and verifying algorithms and communications protocols for mobile platforms operating on the Global Mobile satellite network.

The day-to-day

You will work with a fast-paced development team to design, simulate, test and validate foundational aspects of several systems. You will help shape new programs to ensure technical development is properly focused based on customer and stakeholder requirements.

What You\’ll Need

  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 1-2 years satellite Communications or Radar Systems design experience
  • Understanding of orbital mechanics
  • Perform systems analysis with analytical methods and/or simulation using tools like Matlab and Python
  • Knowledge of link budget analyses and satellite link design
  • Strong Signal Processing / Communications background

What Will Help You On The Job

  • Experience with satellite communications systems, including constellation and ground segment architectures
  • Familiarity with 3GPP Radio Access Technologies
  • Testing and Integration of hardware, software and firmware
  • Firm grasp of RF or networking fundamentals including use of lab equipment like spectrum analyzers, protocol analyzers, channel emulators and scripting and automation of tests.
