We’re looking for a Data and Reporting Analyst to join our Water Resources team in either Exeter or Bristol on a full time permanent basis on a salary of £35,000 to £40,000 per annum plus benefits.

The role:

In this role you will support the Water Resources data and analytics team in gathering and analysing data to create insightful reports, dashboards, and infographics that enable stakeholders to assess performance trends and take informed actions. The team provides modelling, data management, and visualisation services to the Water Resource Function.

As a Data and Reporting Scientist you will be producing accurate visualisations, summarising complex data into actionable insights, ensuring quality and consistency, and delivering projects to scope and schedule. You will use your technical expertise, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of environmental science and water management, witha passion data and effective stakeholder communication.

What you\’ll be doing:

  • Collect and maintain data, both static and dynamic, across activities relevant to the Water Resources Function.
  • Help manage, clean and transform historical, current and forecast data from internal and external systems, databases, and sources into a single source of Water Resources data for reporting and visualisation purposes.
  • Explore new sources of data, both internally and externally and develop and implement innovative data processing and analysis techniques including machine learning to deliver efficient, on-demand data sets.
  • Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, anomalies and produce forecasts.
  • Produce clear and concise insights for stakeholders suitable for performance reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Create visual representations of data to create a single Water Resources Function hub of self-serve reporting, tools and visualisation.
  • Deliver a bespoke data service and actively collaborate with the requesting team to ensure the scope is understood and that outputs will meet expectations.
  • Collate and analyse data when requested and present the outputs in a way to facilitate understanding and interpretation by stakeholders.
  • Ensure all reporting meets deadlines for the submission of internal and regulatory reports and conduct quality checks on outputs to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of information.
  • Support the development of the data transformation activities across the Water Service Function, applying best practice knowledge in analytics and data management.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience producing reporting outputs that adhere to regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Experience in Power BI and other Data Visualisation platforms.
  • Some experience and knowledge of the Water Sector would be desirable.
  • Experience managing visualisation and data projects or initiatives, including coordinating tasks, meeting deadlines, and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, statistical methods, data manipulation, and problem-solving.
  • Highly organised and can plan, track, deliver and evaluate work to defined deadlines.
  • Good written, visual and verbal communications skills and ability to adapt communication style to suit the audience.
  • The ability to prioritise work in accordance with ever changing demands and manage multiple projects.
  • The ability to self-start and be comfortable working under own initiative.
  • Strong focus on efficiency, innovation and data quality with attention to detail.
